By refining structure back to its simplest form, Kiri Schumacher shapes her work.
Nearing the end of her studies at Auckland’s Elam School of Fine Arts, Kiri started a part-time job with a local jeweller, inspiring her to explore form and structure through a new medium and igniting her love of New Zealand’s contemporary jewellery scene.
Imbued with the grace and beauty of the natural world, Kiri Schumacher's designs are largely inspired by her lifelong relationships with plants.
With a deep interest in the healing properties of native flora, she captures the finite details and complexities of tiny buds, flowers, and shoots, creating organic pieces which evoke a sense of nature’s alleviating beauty. As in nature, where materials gradually wear back over time, she refines structure back to its true form, drawing out the essential essence within a shape.
Kiri Schumacher wholeheartedly believes that to be truly happy and healthy, you must experience beauty. So, through her designs, she seeks to create beauty by bringing nature to life - this is her gift to the wearer.
